قَالَ الله تَعَالىٰ: {إِنَّمَا ٱلمُؤمِنُونَ إِخوَة} [الحجرات: 10] ، وقال تعالىٰ: {إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَن تَشِيعَ ٱلفَٰحِشَةُ فِي ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَهُم عَذَابٌ أَلِيم فِي ٱلدُّنيَا وَٱلأٓخِرَةِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعلَمُ وَأَنتُم لَا تَعلَمُونَ} [النور: 19].
Allah Almighty says: {The believers are but brothers} [Surat al-Hujurāt: 10] And He says: {Indeed, those who like to see indecency spread among the believers will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter; Allah knows and you do not know.} [Surat al-Nūr: 19]
1/1577ــ وعن واثلةَ بنِ الأسقعِ رضي الله عنه قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «لا تُظهرِ الشَّماتةَ لأخيكَ، فيَرْحَمَهُ اللهُ ويبْتَليَكَ». رواه الترمذي وقال: حديثٌ حسنٌ[10].
1577/1- Wāthilah ibn al-Asqa‘ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Do not show rejoice at the misfortune of your brother, lest Allah should have mercy on him and subject you to affliction.” [Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi; he classified it as Hasan (sound)] [10]
وفي الباب حديثُ أبي هريرة السابق في (باب التَّجَسُّسِ): «كُلُّ المسلمِ علىٰ المسلمِ حَرامٌ». الحديث.
In this chapter as well is the Hadīth reported by Abu Hurayrah previously cited in the chapter on spying: “The whole of a Muslim is inviolable for another Muslim... ”
الشماتة: هي الفرح لوقوع المصائب علىٰ الآخرين.

1) استحباب التراحم بين المسلمين وإظهار التألم لبعضهم عند نزول المصائب.
1) It is recommended that Muslims be merciful to one another and show sympathy to one another when afflictions strike.
2) إن إظهار الشماتة بالإخوة عون للشيطان عليهم، وتقنيط لهم من رحمة الله تعالىٰ.
2) Gloating at fellow Muslims helps the devil against them and makes them despair of Allah’s mercy.
