وهو تمنّي زوال النعمة عن صاحبها، سواءٌ كانت نعمة دين أو دنيا، قال الله تعالىٰ: {أَم يَحسُدُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ عَلَىٰ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضلِهِۦ} [النساء: 54]. وفيه حَديثُ أنسٍ السَّابق في الباب قَبْلَهُ.
Envy is to wish that someone loses a blessing he is enjoying, whether it is a blessing related to the religion or to the worldly life. Allah Almighty says: {Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them out of His bounty?} [Surat an-Nisā’: 54] The Hadīth of Anas that was cited in the previous chapter belongs in this chapter as well.
1569ــ وعن أبي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أنَّ النَّبيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: «إيَّاكُمْ والحَسَدَ، فإنَّ الحَسَدَ يأكُلُ الحَسَنَاتِ كَمَا تأكُلُ النَّارُ الحَطَبَ»، أو قَالَ: «العُشْبَ». رواه أبو داود[9].
1569- Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beware of envy; indeed, envy consumes good deeds like fire consumes firewood.” Or he said: “like fire consumes grass.” [Narrated by Abu Dāwūd] [9]
1) ذم الحسد والتحذير منه، لأنه من كبائر الذنوب.
1) Envy is dispraised and warned of, being one of the grave major sins.
2) الحسد يمحق الحسنات، فَلْيحرصِ المؤمن علىٰ التخلص منه بالرضا بما قسم الله تعالىٰ له من الرزق.
2) Envy destroys good deeds. A believer should be careful to rid himself of it by being content with the provision that Allah has decreed for him.
