955/1 - Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions, i.e. when they reached Al-Hijr, the dwellings of Thamūd: “Do not enter upon (the ruins of) those people who had been punished except weeping; and in case you do not feel inclined to weep, then do not enter, lest you may meet the same calamity as had befallen them.” [Narrated by Al-Bukhāri and Muslim]
1/955- Ibnu Umar -raḍiyallāhu 'anhumā- meriwayatkan bahwa Rasulullah -ṣallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam- bersabda kepada sahabat-sahabat beliau -yaitu tatkala mereka sampai di Al-Ḥijr, negeri kaum Ṡamūd-, "Janganlah kalian masuk ke tempat orang-orang yang disiksa itu kecuali dalam keadaan menangis. Jika kalian tidak bisa menangis, maka jangan masuk ke tempat mereka; agar apa yang menimpa mereka tidak menimpa kalian." (Muttafaq 'Alaih)
In another version: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Al-Hijr, he said: “Do not enter the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves, lest you may meet the same calamity as had befallen them, except if you are weeping.” Then, he covered his head and quickened his pace till he crossed the valley.
Dalam riwayat yang lain dia berkata, "Ketika Rasulullah -ṣallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam- lewat di Al-Ḥijr, beliau bersabda, Janganlah kalian memasuki tempat tinggal orang-orang yang menzalimi diri mereka itu, agar apa yang telah menimpa mereka tidak menimpa kalian, kecuali kalau kalian dalam keadaan menangis.' Rasulullah -ṣallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam- kemudian menutupi kepalanya dan mempercepat jalannya hingga melewati lembah itu."

قَنَّعَ (qanna'a): menundukkan kepala dan menutupinya.
1) We should be careful to remind and preach others as appropriate, according to the time and place. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) preached his Companions at the dwellings of Thamūd.
1) Berusaha menasihati manusia sesuai kesempatan waktu ataupun tempat yang tepat, sebagaimana Rasulullah -ṣallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam- menasihati sahabat-sahabatnya di negeri kaum Ṡamūd.
2) It is impermissible to go to the dwellings of the past nations who had been tortured and ruined for the purpose of tourism and sightseeing. This contradicts the Prophet’s Sunnah and subjects those who make such a visit to possible destruction: “lest you may meet the same calamity as had befallen them.”
2) Tidak boleh bepergian ke lokasi orang-orang yang disiksa dari kalangan umat-umat terdahulu untuk tujuan rekreasi dan melihat-lihat, karena hal itu menyelisihi Sunnah Nabi serta membiarkan diri terancam pada kebinasaan yang disebutkan dalam hadis, "Agar apa yang telah menimpa mereka tidak menimpa kalian."
3) Sins have bad impact on dwellings, and this lingers on after the passing of the sinners. So, the believer should beware of sins and heed the Prophet’s instruction: “Beware of sins, for sins incur the wrath of Allah.” [Narrated by Ahmad; authentic]
3) Maksiat berpengaruh negatif terhadap tempat tinggal dan dampak buruknya akan tetap ada di lokasi penghuninya yang bermaksiat, dan ini termasuk keburukan maksiat. Oleh karena itu, seorang mukmin harus waspada dari berbuat maksiat kepada Allah -Ta'ālā- dan mengamalkan wasiat Nabi, "Tinggalkanlah perbuatan maksiat, karena maksiat mendatangkan murka Allah." (Hadis sahih riwayat Ahmad)
